A Professional Environment Will Help You Work
Since COVID, more and more people have been working from home, but maybe now you're at the stage where instead of a temporary workspace, you want something more set in stone. So, how do you go from working from home (or an office) in a temporary space to having a professional office that will help you work more efficiently and comfortably?
We'll cover the top four things to think about when remodeling your office, but above all, you want a place that denotes an area of your house as a workplace. If you let your personal life bleed in too much, you will be less effective and comfortable while working.
#1 Picking the Right Room in Your House
This might seem really obvious; however, we often grabbed whatever room was open and started working from there. Now that you're spending the time to improve your space, you need the right place. So, here are some things to take into account:
Traffic within your house. If your office is near a room that people cross by all day long, you will get distracted and not be as effective.
We'll cover this more later, but if you need to see clients or even coworkers, you want a space with a separate entrance.
A room with plenty of windows.
A space you feel comfortable in.
Lastly, you want to pick a room you don't mind turning into an entire office!
#2 Lots of Natural Lighting
It has been proven that natural light helps us stay more focused, relaxed and work more efficiently. Keep in mind; you don't have to pick a room with a ton of windows right off the bat, just the area for them to be built. Also, being able to look outside will just be nice during your work day!
#3 Building a Comfortable & Effective Workspace
This is where design comes in huge. You might not have the space you need now. At Avocet Design, we have a team of people to design the perfect workspace with custom pieces and the construction team to make it happen. You need to create a space that makes you comfortable to be in and will increase your efficiency, whether building a custom desk, a fully built-in work section, or anything you might need.
#4 Making a Space to See Clients and Coworkers
This doesn't apply to everyone, but some people will need to see clients (even virtually) or coworkers. If you're seeing virtual clients, it is easier, but your backdrop makes a huge difference. If you need to see clients or coworkers physically in your space, know there will be much more design and possible remodeling done.
